VIZ Steel launching its new data processing center
VIZ Steel (member of NLMK Group) has commissioned a new Data Processing Center (DPC) which is a complex of networking and head-end equipment serving to ensure fail-safe running of the Company’s business processes.
With this high-performing advanced complex of software and hardware, the Company has localized all its dispersed IT resources in a single site, improved the operational reliability of IT systems related to the production and information, and shortened the decision-making process.
The DPC is located in a dedicated fire-safe building with climate control, ventilation, uninterruptible power supply, monitoring and control of the status of SW and HW complex, etc.
The engineering infrastructure of DPC allows to scale-up the information system in future and provides a number of redundancy subsystems including those which ensure stable functionability of the existing servers.
The Company has allocated over RUB 8.8 m to the implementation of this project.
“The reliability of DPC is critical for the functioning of essential information systems which can influence the Company’s operating results. Those include the automated production management system PSI, system of recording magnetic properties of electrical steels (ACS MPES), systems of technological process control (APCS), etc.. Having commissioned the new data processing center, VIZ Steel has obtained not only a huge server storage but also a unique software and hardware complex meeting the highest requirements to capacity, reliability, economic feasibility and safety”, - says Alexander Sergeev, head of department in Project Management.
