The number of initiatives to improve production, put forward by VIZ-Steel employees, goes 3.5 times up
In 2019, VIZ-Steel employees submitted 582 ideas to improve production efficiency, which is almost 3.5 times more than in 2018. Employee initiatives are aimed at improving technological processes, increasing energy efficiency, reducing maintenance labour costs, improving working conditions, etc. The expected economic effect is about 270 million rubles.
The company’s record for the number of initiatives was set by the head of the thermal section of the cold rolling shop, Vladimir Schiryi, who submitted 16 ideas to the corporate Bank of Ideas. One of Vladimir’s ideas is recognized to have the greatest economic effect. The implementation of his proposal for automating the strip welding processes at the decarburizing annealing unit will improve the quality of welds and allow the plant to save about 11 million rubles by shortening the operation time.
Initiatives are one of the tools of NLMK's Production System, which has been implemented at VIZ-Steel since 2013. The process of submitting ideas has a simple and clear motivation. First, the employee receives remuneration for a submitted idea, is it is approved by the Technical Council; then, if the initiative brings a significant economic effect, the author receives additional remuneration.
